Activated Carbon

2025-06-05

Activated carbon is a black porous solid carbon material produced by crushing and shaping coal, or through carbonization and activation of uniform coal particles. Composed primarily of carbon with trace elements such as oxygen, hydrogen, sulfur, nitrogen, and chlorine, it exhibits strong adsorption properties, making it a versatile industrial adsorbent.

Wood-Based Activated Carbon

  • Raw Material & Production: Made from high-quality wood, processed into a powdery form through high-temperature carbonization, activation, and multiple refining steps.

  • Key Characteristics:

    • Large specific surface area, high activity, and well-developed micropores.

    • Strong decolorization ability and large pore structure for effective adsorption of large molecules (e.g., pigments) and impurities in liquids.

  • Applications:
Decolorization in food, wine, oil, beverage, dye, and chemical industries.

    • Purification of tap water, wastewater treatment, COD reduction, and medicinal applications.

Nut Shell-Based Activated Carbon

  • Raw Material & Production: Derived from nut shells and wood chips via carbonization, activation, and refining.

  • Key Characteristics:

    • High specific surface area, strong mechanical strength, uniform particle size, and developed pore structure.

    • Effective adsorption of free chlorine, phenols, sulfur, oils, colloids, pesticide residues, organic pollutants, and organic solvent recovery.

  • Applications:

    • Water Treatment: Deep purification of drinking water, industrial water, and wastewater in power plants, petrochemical refineries, food & beverage, sugar & wine, and pharmaceutical industries. Removes free chlorine, phenols, sulfur, organic contaminants, and precursors of mutagens (THMs).

    • Gas Phase Adsorption: Industrial tail gas purification, gas desulfurization, petroleum catalytic reforming, gas separation, pressure swing adsorption, air drying, food preservation, gas masks, and catalyst supports.

    • Liquid Phase Applications: Solvent filtration, decolorization, purification (e.g., sugar, monosodium glutamate, medicine, wine), noble metal extraction, and catalyst/catalyst support in chemical industries.

  • Functions: Decolorization, purification, impurity removal, deodorization, odor elimination, carrier support, and solvent recovery.
